C4D Research covers a wide area of research theories and practices that aim to shed light on pertinent contextual realities and on the types of communication for development methods that are relevant in these contexts. Ranging from media ecology studies to stakeholder analysis, knowledge attitude and practice (KAP) assessments to social norms studies, the scope is broad.
C4D Evaluation goes further to establish monitoring & evaluation frameworks and strategies for tracking and analysing results of C4D work. These studies may be formative or summarise, i.e. examining either the process or the end results or sometimes both. Impact evaluation asks questions about longer-term results and approaches such as most significant change and is more about people’s own telling about change in their own words. C4D approaches can be part of evaluation as well as the subject, and strategies can be based on a variety of methods that are both participatory and expert lead.
This section brings together resources, case studies and learning from a wide range of C4D research and evaluation.
