World Teenage Reporting Project >COVID 19

Since mid April, the assignment to teenage journalists in 16 countries has been to cover the untold stories of how their peers are helping both potential and current victims of the virus and their caregivers. The project will continue “until it’s not needed anymore. The goal is to combat Global Youth & News Media see as the prevailing image these days of teenagers as either careless beach frolickers who bring the virus home or as bored couch-sitters who think about only themselves.

MTV: Videos on life during COVID-19

This miniseries of 5 minute episodes sees characters from four different countries connect via video calls as they navigate their ‘new normal’ under COVID-19. While some focus their concerns on the more material aspects of this new lockdown life, others struggle to cope with the every day strains of isolation, economic upheaval, and life behind closed doors.

There’s little chance you will forget the home quarantine of 2020. But the details will fade over time — unless you create something that lasts. Kids around the country are doing just that by making their own newspapers. They’ve become reporters, photographers, editors, art directors and even cartoonists. And they are doing what good journalists do: keeping their communities (or maybe just their families) informed and entertained.

UNDRR: Engaging children and youth in disaster risk reduction and resilience building

UNDRR has created a guide entitled “Words into Action Guidelines: Engaging children and youth in disaster risk reduction and resilience building”, that addresses how to support and engage children and youth around the world in disaster risk reduction to fully implement the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.
