As the C4D Global Network prepared to launch the Africa C4D hub, a team of dedicated C4D professionals drawn from the Kenyan Country Chapter has worked and continues to work voluntarily to make the C4D Africa Hub a reality.

Dr. Leah Komen is a resilient and focused researcher whose interests range from gender, media and technology for social and behavior change. Her career spans over 10 years in new media and Development. Dr . Komen has taught in the fields of media and communication and published on a range of issues covering the role of media and communication in development and social change, implications of information communication technologies for gender and socio-economic transformation of societies within rural contexts, health communication and Development communication theory. Other roles include teaching and research in Social and behavior change, leadership and appropriation of technology for everyday lives. She serves as an ethics reviewer, and supervises both doctoral and masters students in communication.

George Kahuthia is a seasoned communications for development practitioner who has honed his skills working in varied technical, advisory, coordination and managerial capacities in health communication programmes with government, civil society and international non-governmental organizations. He has wide experience in the use and application of C4D principles, tools and approaches as a catalyst for social and behavioural change. He holds a master’s degree in demography and currently works as a Communication for Development Specialist with UNICEF in the Tanzania Country Office

Lilian graduated from Daystar University with a Master of Arts degree in Development Communication. As a newbie in the field, she is passionate about health and behaviour change communication, especially its application in addressing mental health issues. She seeks to use her communication skills to influence Kenya’s policies to put mental health as a priority and avail the necessary assistance and amenities to those in need.

Kathleen is a development professional with over 5 years of experience in fundraising for environmental projects and programmes covering energy, water, climate sensitive agriculture and resource based waste management. Her professional experience has been gained through project management and resource mobilisation that highly depends on effective communication – both to the funder and the beneficiary. She is enthusiastic about African development and passionately motivated by the desire to see African nations developed in a green and sustainable manner.

Charity Kiambuthi holds a Masters degree in Communication for Development (C4D). She specializes in disseminating Agricultural information to farmers for adoption and implementation. Her major focus is to have a food secure Africa by impacting communities in Sub-Saharan Africa with research findings that could upscale agriculture. Her goal is to eradicate hunger and poverty through communication.

Drusilla Anyango Ouma
Drusilla is an experienced and passionate communications and public relations practitioner with more than 6 years experience both in the corporate and the development space. She has been engaged in advocacy work, involving children and youth living on the streets since 2017. She believes that communication is the main function of advocacy.

Caroline is a passionate communications and public relations practitioner with close to 10 years of experience in not-for-profit environmental management and agricultural development sectors. She is particularly keen on utilising C4D strategies to bring about positive social change and to empower low income earning households by implementing bottom-up projects that leave them in better positions of self-reliance. She holds a Masters Degree in Communication for Development and is currently working as the Community Manager at C4D Global Network.

Jeremiah M. Nganda
Jeremiah M. Nganda is a communications professional with over 10 years’ experience working in the media industry in East Africa. Jeremiah is passionate about behavior change and interested in using C4D approaches and strategies in promoting and communicating about healthy behaviors. He currently serves as the Manager- Kenya at Vision Group Limited, a multi-media house based in Uganda. In addition, Jeremiah is a PhD student and Adjunct Lecturer in the department of Strategic & Organizational Communication at Daystar University Kenya.
