Department of Communication and Arts, Roskilde University, invites applications for a position as PhD working with Big data analytics in Communication and Culture from February 1 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position as PhD is limited to a period of 3 years.
In the Department of Communication and Arts change and communication in a globalized knowledge society are recurring themes in a substantial part of the research conducted at the department, where the actor perspective and practice orientation are core values.
In addition, the department’s research is characterized by a broad expertise in the humanities, centred on a series of theoretical and analytical approaches in the fields of history, philosophy and science studies, cultural encounters and research into literature, media and language.
The PhD student will be part of the cross-disciplinary Centre for Big Data at Roskilde University. The Centre for Big Data (CeBiDa) is an interdisciplinary research centre focusing on big data analytics, methodologies, modelling, big data learning and visualisations of big data in different contexts. It combines research across natural science, humanities, social science and technical sciences. For this scholarship, we are looking for a PhD student who is interested in and qualified to as a part of the Ph.D. carry out applied data science and data management of big data within the field of communication and culture, for example network analysis, social simulation, text mining/language processing, and/or machine learning.
