Newspaper coverage of the 2011 protests in Egypt, International Communication Gazette – Al-Maskati (2012)

Synopsis: This article explores newspaper coverage of the 2011 Egyptian protests and their interactions with some types of social media. This paper explores the role of social media in influencing the mainstream media’s coverage of events through a content analysis across multiple international and national newspapers.  Information was reviewed across different areas to assess the coverage and tone of the protests and the possible impact on the campaigns.

Promotion of Dialogue for Peacebuilding Through Media and Youth Mobilisation in Pakistan – Akbar Zaidi (2014)

Synopsis: Search for Common Ground (SFCG) Pakistan initiated a two year project from September 2011 to December 2013, supported by the Danish Agency for International Development (DANIDA), entitled Promotion of Dialogue for Peacebuilding through Media and Youth Mobilization in Pakistan. The project worked with youth and local leaders, radio producers, and print and television journalists in 25 districts from across four provinces of Pakistan, as well as Gilgit – Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), to nurture and promote youth, community and media involvement in proactive conflict mitigation.
